Glossary of Military and Veteran's Benefits for Education

Dependents’ Educational Assistance (Ch. 35) (dependents, survivors) — Monthly educational benefit entitlement for dependents and survivors of veterans who are 100-percent disabled or who died of a service-connected cause, or were a POW or MIA.

Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship (Post-9/11 GI Bill®) (dependents) — Tuition and fees (with limits), monthly living stipend and book allowance to include children of those who died in line of duty after Sept. 10, 2001.

Montgomery GI Bill® (Ch. 30) (active duty, reservists, veterans) — A monthly educational benefit entitlement dependent on length of military service and student status.

MyCAA (spouses) — Tuition Assistance benefit that provides up to $4,000 toward licensing and credentialing programs.

Post-9/11 GI Bill® (Ch. 33) (active duty, reservists, veterans) — Tuition and fees (with limits), monthly living stipend and book allowance based on length of service after Sept. 10, 2001.

Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP – Ch. 1607) (reservists) — Monthly educational benefit entitlement available to reservists activated after Sept. 11, 2001.

Reserve GI Bill® (Ch. 1606) (reservists) — Monthly educational benefit entitlement available to reservists. Transfer of Post-9/11 GI Bill® Benefits to Dependents (TEB) (dependents, survivors) — Educational benefits transferred to spouses or children by eligible service members enrolled in Post-9/11 GI Bill® program.

Vocational Rehabilitation (Ch. 31) (veterans) — Tuition and fee benefits for those with specific disability ratings by the Department of Veterans Affairs due to service-related injury.
